Water for Life Project is an exciting new joint initiative of Global Environment Education Network Australia Inc. (OZ GREEN-www.ozgreen.org.au) and International Award Association of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Programme. Its pilot project is installed at the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Zonal office Lahore based in Quaid College. The project involves Young people in assessing the health of the environment, developing their own vision and action plans and implementing eco-social projects they have designed.

Young Leaders Conference is a Programme of the school of leadership Karachi for enhancing the leadership qualities of the Young people between the ages 18-24 years. It’s a high profile activity and last time participants were presented to Prime Minister of Pakistan at the Prime Minister’s house in Islamabad. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Programme Pakistan provides sponsorship in registration fee every year to the five Award participants through its Trustee Unilever Pakistan Ltd. The registration fee for one participant is over Rs 30,000. This time the YLC is being held in July 2006 at hotel Pearl Continental Rawalpindi and selected participants are Usman Yasin (Lahore), Batur Hussain (Peshawar), Anmol Saba Khatak (Peshawar), Sahar Pirwani (Karachi) and Mudassar Iqbal (Lahore). Green Badge Training is essential for an adult volunteer award Leader that takes two days to complete. At the end of successful training participants receive a beautiful Green Badge and Certificate that also serves as a license to operate the Award Programme as a Leader. During one Year’s time the award Programme has given training to more than 214 Leaders. The said training was particularly arranged for new schools chains from PAF Colleges, Beaconhouse Schools, Falcon house schools and many other institutions. Click here to read a

Registration fee Revised: with effect from 1st August 2006 the participants registration fee will be charged @ Rs 200/= per participant.
Monetary Incentive for Leaders. With effect from 1st August 2006 the Award office will pay @ Rs. 20/= Per Award Participant to the Award Leader as a monetary incentive and Rs 500/= over every 100 Award participants.
Annual basis achievement awards shall be introduced for the Award Participants as soon as the required funds would be available. Proposal for such award stands for annual singing competition, Skills competitions and debating etc etc.
The 9th International Award Forum will be held in November 2006 at Edinburgh, Scotland. The Chairpersons and National Directors of each member country will attend this high profile triennial meeting.
Award Programme in Bangladesh is about to take a final shape. Pakistan is playing a champion role in establishing the Award Programme in Bangladesh and Pakistani Chairman, National Director and Director Asia-Pacific Region (Australia) have been visiting Bangladesh in this regard.
