Waqar A Malik, is the Chief Executive, of ICI Pakistan Limited and Chairman of Pakistan PTA Limited an ICI Group Company in Pakistan.

With more than 20 years with ICI, Waqar has had extensive experience in nearly all businesses of ICI Pakistan and Pakistan PTA Limited both in Commercial, Finance and General Management. In 1994, he was transferred to ICI’s Grougp Headquarters in the Corporate Finance Department for Americas Region, a Board Support function with responsibility for merges, corporate restructurings, financing arrangements, dividend policy etc. During his secondment he also worked closely in ICI Plc’s Corporate Planning and Strategy Department on a major corporate portfolio-restructuring project.

In 1996, he returned to Pakistan and was appointed General Manager Finance and Planning for Pakistan and later in 1998, was appointed Vice President of Polyester Staple Fibre Business in Lahore. In 2002 he was appointed Director on ICI Pakistan Board and later in 2003 became Chief Executive of Pakistan PTA Limited.

He has attended INSEAD and Harvard Business Schools and takes active interest in Corporate Sector activities and in promotion of health and education. He is a member of the National Board of Advisors of AIESEC in Pakistan. He is a Member of the PIM Board of Governors and a Member of Private Sector Advisory Group (PSAG). As a Member of the Managing Committee of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI), he heads its industrial, Commercial & Environment Committee and is also on the Executive committee of the Management Association of Pakistan (Map).

Waqar Malik is a Chartered Accountant by profession and a Fellow of the institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

His Interests outside work are music, are and gardening.
